Doodle and family are taking a wee break. Look for them to return by December 15 (if not sooner). Doodle says to tell you all that even someone with as much energy and magnetism as he has needs a break now and then!
Who is Doodle, you ask? Doodle is one of the four lambs (sheep) who make up the McLamby family. He lives in the Northern Highlands of Scotland, and this is his blog. That's right; life from a lamb's point of view. Doodle, and his brother Snowball, were orphaned lambs and raised on bottles...first in the garage and backyard of their people ("Dad" and "Mom")...then out in the big field with their "Uncles" Rosebud and Shermy, two big Cheviot sheep who are also...er...pet sheep. Sometimes it's just fine for someone to have no other purpose in life but to live and be one of God's creatures. That's Doodle, Snowball, Rosebud, and Shermy. Welcome to their world!

It's me and Dad! We're just hangin' out together. I like when I am the special Doodle and get all the attention.
Mom says I am a lot bigger now than I was in this photo. Maybe I am, but I still feel like little Doodle inside sometimes. And I still like all the attention!

What is it? What is it? A MONSTER!
No, it's me! Doodle! Except Mom says that's the same thing as a monster. I'm not sure what she means by that.
Here we see me, demonstrating aggressive eating. Sometimes you have to do that. What if someone eats that blade of grass before you get to it? I'm not gonna let that happen!
Chomp Chomp Chomp.
Got any cookies?

Here we see the McLambies... only they are not all posing very well for this portrait (ahem...Rosebud). Still, it shows off my ears well.
And here we see Uncle Shermy eating nettles. He is a champion nettle-eater. Snowball is quite good at it, too. Rosebud sometimes eats nettles. Me, not so much.
Shermy says you have to put your ears back and open your mouth really, really wide. Nettles sting, you know! But I guess he thinks they are very yummy.
And here we see Shermy showing you his front bottom teeth. Silly Shermy.
He says he's smiling, but if that's the case, I've never seen such a goofy smile, have you?

Here we see me, showing you how bendy I am... just like an owl! Almost.
Now I'm eating. Eating is my favorite thing. I like water, too. And sometimes scritches. Oh, and the head-pushing game. Cookies. Naps. But eating is the best!
You can see my knee pads well, too!
When Snowball and I were little tiny, we didn't know we were supposed to eat grass. We tried to eat everything else first: rocks, sticks, plastic, styrofoam, metal bars. When we were teething, plastic was the best to gnaw on. Mom and Dad were always taking stones out of our mouths and telling us not to eat them. I didn't know why then, but now I know about grass and hay and yummy green things.
Here I am eating so fast, I'm a blur!
And here I am, foraging for the best green stuff. It's great! I love wandering around and finding the best green stuff. You should try it!

Here we see me, Doodle, showing you my big, speckledy ear. See how big my wonderful ears are? They work as blinkers on my eyes, if I need them.
And here we see me, pushing my ears way back from my face, so you can see how cute and fuzzy and soft and speckledy it is.
Don't you want to pet my head? But if you do, I might be tempted to play the head-pushing game with you. And guess what? I would win!
Mom says she was glad when they adopted me that she asked for the speckledy one. Me too!

And here we see Uncle Shermy and Uncle Rosebud enjoy the warm Indian Summer sun.
Rosebud is showing you his aristocratic side.
Good grief! Do you think we McLambies need to get some sunglasses?
Saturday, November 15, 2014
Here we see Snowball, enjoying a little Indian Summer sun. He likes getting his Vitamin D.
And here we see Snowball having a little too much sun in his eyes. Sheesh! He's always looking for perfection.

Look! What is it coming through the brush? It's HUGE! And woolly!
It's a Great Woolly Lambeth. No, wait. It's Uncle Bud on a mission.
Chomp Chomp Chomp
And they say I'm all about my food!

Hey Dad! Watcha doin'? What is that?
Snowball is a VERY curious lamb. And a very persistent lamb, too!
Lemme see, Dad!
Hey Dad, pet me instead!
See? Isn't this better than fiddling with that camera thing?
And here we see one happy Snowball!

This is Uncle Shermy, aka The Sherminator. Do not be fooled by his mild-mannered appearance.
Okay... well, he's mostly mild-manner, but he's also a MONSTER! You know that guy... the Cookiei Monster guy? Yeah, well, he was modeled after Uncle Shermy. He is such a cookie hound that he makes it hard for the rest of us sometimes.
You think he's not paying attention, and he has the littlest ears of all of us... but he hears. He knows when a cookie packet rattles, or a hand goes in a pocket. He's even a POCKET BITER! He ripped the pocket right off Mom's jacket once!
Don't be fooled by his "shy and retiring" look. Nope. Uncle Shermy... the Sherminator... is, in reality, a monster!

Here we see Mom, and all of us. We're listening to stories! And eating cookies!!
We get lots of cuddles and pets, and told how good we are... and sometimes Mom sings to us!
Family time is so much fun!
Cookies are pretty good, too!
Saturday, November 8, 2014
Uncle Rosebud. He's a big pudding. At least, sometimes Mom and Dad call him that. Or else...
He's a marshmallow.
Uncle Shermy is an oatcake. HA!
Sometimes, Rosebud is a great, big, woolly lambeth!
Marshmallows, puddings, and woolly lambeths. Mom says they are terms of endearment. Hmmm... I don't know...
Friday, November 7, 2014
Hey, Dad has his hand in his pocket! Cookies! Even Uncle Rosebud thinks so.
Hey, Dad. We're here! We'll have our cookies now.
Here you see us, patiently waiting... expectantly waiting... for our cookies. I mean, Dad has his hand in his pocket. That's where the cookies always are! (Look at the Shermy statue in the background. Pretty neat, huh? Turns out they took the statue away and left us the real Shermy, instead.)
Snowball: Doesn't Dad have his hand in his cookie pocket?
Doodle: It looks like it. Why aren't we getting cookies?
Snowball: I don't always understand life, do you?

Shermy seems awfully interested in something.
No, wait. I think he's posing. He's standing perfectly still, while all kinds of things go on all around him.
He is putting on his most patrician air.
He doesn't move! I think he's been replaced by a Shermy statue. (Don't tell him I said so, but sometimes I think a Shermy statue would be preferable!)

Here we see Snowball, standing under the trailer (is that Uncle Rosebud behind him??), modeling his V-Neck Sweater. Leave it to Baby Snowball to grow his first coat of wool in a unique way. Doesn't he look just like he pulled a sweater on over his pointy head?
This year, his wool is growing in differently. Pictures will come soon!
Tuesday, November 4, 2014
Here we see Snowball. He is the only one of us who has a heart-shaped nose. I suppose he thinks that makes him special.
Here we see Snowball again. He is being scritched. As usual. You can see how his first year's woolly coat grew in almost like a sweater! Dad said Snowball had a V-neck pullover!
Here we see me! I don't understand why Mom is always trying to get a "good" close-up shot of me. How much more close up does she want me to be??? And see? I'm looking at you!
Perhaps you all would like a profile shot instead.
Can you see my smile? I'm usually smiling. That's because I'm a happy Doodle!
Saturday, November 1, 2014
Here we see Uncle Rosebud, claiming his little spot under this trailer. He was very steadfast in making sure we all got the message.
Well, at first, Snowball didn't know what the big deal was.
Uncle Bud set him straight... and sent him packing!
He looks quite a home there, doesn't he?
Uncle Bud is a very singular sort of fellow.
Here are Snowball and me coming for scritches and cookies. Note Uncle Bud in the background... still under his trailer... still unmoved.
And so, activity continues with the rest of us. Not with Uncle Rosebud. He's homesteading.
Notice how Uncle Bud is telling me in no uncertain terms that I had better not be looking longingly at his spot under the trailer!
He's a fairly happy lamby, though, in his strange, Uncle Bud sort of way.
