Who is Doodle, you ask? Doodle is one of the four lambs (sheep) who make up the McLamby family. He lives in the Northern Highlands of Scotland, and this is his blog. That's right; life from a lamb's point of view. Doodle, and his brother Snowball, were orphaned lambs and raised on bottles...first in the garage and backyard of their people ("Dad" and "Mom")...then out in the big field with their "Uncles" Rosebud and Shermy, two big Cheviot sheep who are also...er...pet sheep. Sometimes it's just fine for someone to have no other purpose in life but to live and be one of God's creatures. That's Doodle, Snowball, Rosebud, and Shermy. Welcome to their world!

Chair Play

The chair!  It is always around.  I'm not afraid of it anymore.  Snowball never was.
***
It's a great thing to play with, too.  It has places you can poke your head.  This is especially good for Snowball, who is a pokey lamb with a pointy nose.

Snowball loves going through holes and poking his nose everywhere.  Even now that he is bigger, he still does this.  He says he finds magical things when he goes poking around.  Snowball has his own take on life!

Doodle Gets More Scritches

People just love petting the top of my fuzzy head.  And I like them too.  But only if I know them first, like Mom or Dad.  Here's Dad scritching me.

And I like to look lovey looks at Dad and Mom.  That's what I'm doing while Dad scritches under my chin!

Look!  My tail is straight out.  That is a sure sign I'm happy.  I like having my face scritched, too.  It makes my tail stick out!

More Faces of Doodle, Mostly Doing What He Does Best

Can you find me?  I'm plowing through the tall grass, eating good things!

Here I am attacking a tall piece of green stuff, and eating it all up!
***
Head down, and concentrate.  That's my eating motto.

Sometimes you have to look up and around, though.  You might miss something good if you don't!

Here I am, walking with a purpose.

Look at my ears.  They are listening.  I'm hearing grass growing for me to eat!

Snowball Hears Stories, Too

Here's Snowball listening to Dad tell stories.
***
Snowball likes to tell his own stories sometimes.

Snowball also likes knees!

Snowball is a unique lamb, with a viewpoint all his own.

And sometimes he likes to nibble knees.  Or shoes.  Those are good, too.

But what he really wanted, aside from stories...

Was for Dad to scritch and scritch him.  And being Snowball, he got what he wanted!

Doodle and Snowball Play They Are in the Jungle

A wild beast!  No... it's just Snowball.
***
We love when the grass is tall and there are all kinds of good, green things hiding it for us find and eat!  It's like 'sploring in the jungle!

Snowball is a good 'splorer.  It's one of his favorite things.

I like to go 'sploring too, but especially if there are things to find which I can eat.

I would make a good jungle lamb, I think.  I am good at crashing through the underbrush!

Dad sometimes says I am a warthog.  I don't know what that is, or why he says that, but it must be good!  After all, I'm a good lamb!

Doodle Has a Heart-to-Heart with Dad

Here I am asking Dad to tell me stuff.  That's how you learn, you know.  And I always like to hear stories, too.

Dad is telling me to be a good Doodle so I will grow big and strong.  He says I will get as big as the Uncles, but I don't think I believe him.

I love family time.  And I always listen carefully, except when I don't.  Don't I look like a good Doodle to you?  I am.  I'm a happy Doodle, too!

Lambs Being Lambs

Here we see Snowball surveying his kindgom.  He's a handsome lamb, like me, don't you think?
***
And below, here I am, eating!  I'm really getting the hang of it by this time.

Snowball was doing pretty well with the eating, too!

He doesn't eat as much as I do.  Dad says it's because we're two different kinds of lambs.

Here we are, eating in stereo!

Here I am, really leaning into it.  You can see my cute, fuzzy top of the head well in this photo!

Me, taking a break.  Don't I have lovely ears?

I'm just oozing Doodleness!  Full of lamby love and joy, and spreading it to the world.

Oh, yeah.  And I'm chewing on a straw, too.  We're country folks here.

Cookie Monsters

Here we see Mom handing out cookies.  We love cookies.  All of us love cookies.  Maybe even especially Shermy.  So why Uncle Shermy is far off, looking into the other field, we don't know.  He must have been in a snit.  He gets that way sometimes.  I think he wants to be an only lamb.

Here we see Snowball looking the wrong way.  He loves cookies, too.  I think he thought Dad had more cookies, instead of a camera.  Doesn't Snowball have BIG ears?  And they say my ears are big!
***
If we ever have visitors, we suggest you come prepared with cookies.  Lidl's brand of rich tea biscuits are our favorites.  However, we will happily eat digestive biscuits, or if you're American, graham crackers, animal crackers, or Nilla Wafers!  Our motto for you:  COME PREPARED!

Pastoral Scenes with The Uncles

Soft summer evening with Uncle Bud and Uncle Shermy resting in the tall grass.

Uncle Bud and Uncle Shermy are happy because they have had their heavy, hot, woolly coats taken off, and now they are cool and peaceful.

Look!  Uncle Shermy's ears are pointy backwards.  He's listening!

Mom thinks Uncle Rosebud has a baby face, even though he is six years old!

A slight change of positions.  And a peaceful evening continues.  The McLambies wish you all a peaceful, restful evening.

A Doodle Miscellany

Here we see me, Doodle, looking particularly stunning.

Here we see Dad sitting on the fence, watching over us little guys.

Here we see Snowball looking at a very tall weed... eye to eye.

Here we see me surrounded by very tall weeds and grass, and Snowball with his head through the fence, trying to eat what's on the other side (which, as we all know, is always better than what is on this side).

And here we see Snowball eating grass more his size.  Short.
***
Spending time with us little lambs is very relaxing and edifying, as you can see.

Learning to Think About Others

Hey!  It turns out we weren't the only lambies getting used to something new when we moved out to the big field.  The Uncles were getting used to US, too!  We never thought of that.  They kinda liked to stick together... because they already knew each other and were friends.  But they weren't sure of us, for a long time.  Sometimes they still aren't!

Here's Uncle Rosebud...er, Uncle Bud... being all sleepy and like a big teddy bear.  Even I, the cute Doodle, can see he has cuteness, too.

The Uncles are grazing peacefully.  We were learning about that, too.  And you can see our neighbors!  We made friends with some of them.  Uncle Bud had a favorite corner of the field he liked to lie down in, and chat with the neighbors.
***
It's a thought... realizing there are other folks like you in the world!
