Who is Doodle, you ask? Doodle is one of the four lambs (sheep) who make up the McLamby family. He lives in the Northern Highlands of Scotland, and this is his blog. That's right; life from a lamb's point of view. Doodle, and his brother Snowball, were orphaned lambs and raised on bottles...first in the garage and backyard of their people ("Dad" and "Mom")...then out in the big field with their "Uncles" Rosebud and Shermy, two big Cheviot sheep who are also...er...pet sheep. Sometimes it's just fine for someone to have no other purpose in life but to live and be one of God's creatures. That's Doodle, Snowball, Rosebud, and Shermy. Welcome to their world!

Hey! What About Us?

Hey!  What's Dad doing out there? What about us? Why are we in here? Hey! Hey!
I'll go see. Hey Dad! Hey Dad! It's me, Doodle!

And here we see Snowball, still watching, waiting and wondering.

Will Dad come back? Will we get out there? Tune in tomorrow...

Handsome Is As Handsome Does

Well, I guess if that's true, Uncle Rosebud is a pretty handsome guy. He will be 7 years old next month. He's pretty dashing for a 7-year-old. He lives a pampered life. But he deserves it. He had a hard first year, and he wasn't even planned for (er...there was some sort of mix-up and it seems some guys went where they shouldn't have the autumn before...long story). The blessing was: Rosebud was born! And he is Head Honcho and Top Lamb of the McLambies. I still try to usurp him sometimes, but he won't let me. Never mind. Even when Rosebud has to assert his authority, he's still a nice guy.

With Love From Doodle

Here we see me, being as cute as pie. I think I'm always cute, but Mom and Dad often call me a monster. Especially lately. I don't know why. I'm just Doodle.
And here I am letting Dad scritch and scritch me, just so he knows I love him. And he loves me.

We McLambies, and our people...we call it "Lamb Therapy". That's because it's good for us, and it's good for our people. And then everyone is happy!
'Cause if Doodle ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!

Here we see me, Doodle, looking.  I am very attentive, except when I'm not. I have selective attention. It's a rare quality which I try to cultivate. Sometimes I hear very well, like when Mom or Dad puts a hand in a pocket to get a cookie. Sometimes I don't hear at all, like when Mom or Dad are yelling "Doodle!" at me. It's the same with looking.
Uncle Shermy and Uncle Bud are looking, too.

Where's Snowball?  Maybe that's what we were looking at!

Serious 'Sploring

LOOK!  It's Uncle Bud, Uncle Shermy, and me... crashing through the brush.  We're doing some serious 'sploring.  You can see Rosebud using his big, hard head like a battering ram.  And look at Uncle Shermy's funny expression... and his bent back ear.  I don't think he liked all the 'sploring.  And you can hardly see the Doodle!
Here comes Uncle Bud, leading the charge.  He plowed on through, and what he couldn't trample down, he ate!

I don't remember where Baby Snowball was.  Probably sitting in someone's lap, eating cookies!

Resourceful Doodle

Here we see me, Doodle, making sure not to waste a cookie. See, it went on the other side of the fence, but I took care of it.  I was able to save it... and eat it. I'm very good at not wasting food!

A Few of Our Favorite Things

Here we see me, Doodle, concentrating on my favorite pastime:  EATING!  See my focus?  Don't I have a cute little head?  I don't know why Mom says I have a big, hard head.  Oh, and there's Uncle Shermy behind me.
And here we see me... solo.

And here we see me... with Uncle Rosebud.

Hey?  Where did I go?  Well, there's Uncle Rosebud.  I guess he's pretty good at eating, too.

There I am again!

And, there's Snowball... clandestinely taking a cookie from Dad.  He's such a spoiled Snowball.  I'm glad I'm not like him!  (Whaddya mean I'm "worse"???)

And that was us, enjoying a few of our favorite things:  this blade of grass, and that blade, and that blade, and that clump, and that blade, and the next blade, and that grass over there... and some cookies... and that patch of grass over there...

What was that???
It was Rocket (a.k.a. Snowball).  We told you he was fast!  He ran right out of the picture!

On the Run

In the lead we have, as usual, Snowball the Rocket.  Coming close behind (out of breath and panting) we have me, Doodle.  I am not out of breath! (Yes he is.)

And crashing through the underbrush, here comes Uncle Bud and Uncle Shermy.
The winners:  Snowball, Doodle, Rosebud, Shermy
Even though we are not little baby lambs anymore (some of us can barely remember those days), we still like to run and jump and play.  Especially during the Springtime.  Snowball flies around like a crazy rocket.  Doodle marches and jumps on all four feet, like a soldier.  Shermy sometimes "does a soldier" and sometimes kicks his back heels up and just runs.  Rosebud even jumps up in the air, wiggles, and runs all out.  Mom and Dad say he sort of looks like a teddy bear running.
We're happy lambs, and we like to play!  Hooray for Spring!

Pensive Portraits

Here we see Uncle Shermy giving us his regal portrait pose.  Notice his distinguished Roman nose.  And his very thoughtful expression.  He has intelligent eyes, too (when they are not bugged out because he got scared).  Uncle Shermy is pretty much always a good lamb with a mild manner (except when he is butting Snowball or trying to steal cookies right out of Mom's pocket).
And then there's Uncle Bud.

He is always a good lamb, too.  Here he is, posing, and MAKING A POINT.  He wants to make sure Mom and Dad see that his dinner table is upside down.  Silly Uncle Bud.
It is Springtime and the baby lambs have started arriving around the neighborhood.  They are cute and bouncy and sweet.  We have to make sure the old guys don't get slighted at this time of year!

Cookie Fun

Here we see me, Doodle, and Snowball running at Mom.  She has cookies for us.
And Dad has cookies for us, too!  Look at funny Uncle Shermy with a cookie in his mouth.  He better watch out.  If I were closer, I'd snatch it from him!

See Dad giving Uncle Shermy another cookie?  What about us?  Well, probably Dad gave us cookies, too.  And see how small we are next to Uncle Shermy?  It's not like that anymore!  I'm a BIG Doodle now.

The wonderful thing is:  We have cookie fun every single day!
Mom says it helps us grow big and strong.

Happy St Patrick's Day

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

And sure it's Doodle O'Malley immortalized in tapestry!  Get yours HERE.

The Amazing Bat-Eared Doodle

Here we see me, Doodle:  The Amazing Bat-Eared Doodle.  See me high-stepping along the lane and showing you my spectacular ears?  You can get a good view of my incredible knee-pads, too!  Rarely does anyone see such a splendiferous example of extreme lambiness... and Doodleness, as well.
Oh.  And there's Uncle Shermy beside me.  It's hard for everyone else not to be a wallflower when the Amazing Bat-Eared Doodle shows up!

Big Woolly Clouds

Here we see Uncle Rosebud.  He's manicuring the middle piece of grass on the lane.  No charge.
And here we see Uncle Shermy, and Uncle Rosebud, trimming the sides of the lane.  They like to be helpful like that.

Big woolly clouds.  That's what they look like, according to Mom and Dad.  And by the end of spring, they are even BIGGER clouds!  Silly sheep.
Anyway, who needs a lawnmower when you have lambs??

Doodle's Movie (With Snowball, too)

Doodle is a movie star, too!
Of course, Snowball, being much more experienced, is also in the movie, as Doodle's co-star.

And, making a cameo off-camera appearance:  Dad's voice

Sit back and enjoy the show!

Time to See Doodle

Here we see me, Doodle.  Finally.  Snowball has been getting a lot of press lately.  Here I am doing what I do best:  professional eating.
Oh no!  Here comes Snowball, too!

Here we see me, Doodle, watching Snowball carefully to make sure he is not eating anything I want.

See my interesting face with all my unique and Doodle-esque markings?  Mom says my ears are becoming paler in color now, though.  You will see photos of a bigger me soon, and you can compare!  And I don't have a pokey nose.  I have a big, hard, bashing head!

Snowball and His Pokey Nose

Here we see Snowball.  He is showing you his VERY pointed face.  He has a pointy, pokey nose.
He used to be pure white, but now he has a few markings on him... like ONE eyebrow over his right eye!  And some polka dots on his ears.

Snowball will forever be the baby, I guess.  He likes to use his pointy nose to poke, poke, poke at people.  He's still looking for a bottle after all this time!

See his polka dots?

And Snowball is the one who always sticks close to Mom and Dad.  It's not just for cookies, either.  It's because he's the littlest one.  Even with his pokey nose, he has a sweet and gentle personality.  He never barges through and bashes people about, like...ahem...some people I know (me, Doodle).

Snowball Calls Dad

It's Snowball.  He sees Dad.  He's calling for Dad.
Snowball thinks Dad is on the wrong side of the fence.  Or else, Snowball is on the wrong side of the fence.  Anyway... Snowball wants attention.  As usual.

Scritch.  Scritch.  Scritch.

Snowball ALWAYS gets what he wants.
Besides, no one can resist us McLambies.  We are THAT cute!

Snowball Looks Funny

Silly Snowball!  He looks kinda funny sometimes when he's eating.  CHOMP.  CHOMP.  CHOMP.
His pointy nose gets all wrinkly!

And sometimes, it seems to take a lot of concentration.

Snowball is a very picky eater.  He will choose one blade of grass, then move a few feet away, and then eat another blade of grass.  He turns up his pointy nose at lots of things.  Not at cookies, though.
I guess Snowball is not a professional eater like I, Doodle, am.  It's good to have a profession!

Four Kinds of Lambs

Here we see Uncle Shermy, standing at the open gate to our field, trying to decide (a) does he want to go in? (b) does he want to stay out? or (c) is it a trap.  'Cause for some reason, Uncle Shermy and Uncle Bud always think things are traps.  They're silly old curmudgeons.
And here we see Snowball, trying to finagle another cookie from Dad.  We all think he gets the most cookies of any of us, but Mom and Dad keep telling us that's not so.
I'm having a snack!

Uncle Bud is often in a pondering mode.  He watches everything carefully and takes it all in.

We all love Uncle Bud.  He's like a big teddy bear an elder statesman!

Playing in the Street

Here we see Uncle Bud, trotting along in the street.  As well as having street food, we like to play in the street.  (Okay, it's more of a "lane" than a street, but still.)
Snowball is on cookie alert, watching Dad.  I'm having a snack!

Now we see me running straight towards Mom!

I'm so fast, I'm a blur!

Now we see Snowball running straight towards Mom.  I'm having a snack!

Here is a good view of my tail.  Don't I have a nice, fluffy tail?

I'm having a snack!
