Who is Doodle, you ask? Doodle is one of the four lambs (sheep) who make up the McLamby family. He lives in the Northern Highlands of Scotland, and this is his blog. That's right; life from a lamb's point of view. Doodle, and his brother Snowball, were orphaned lambs and raised on bottles...first in the garage and backyard of their people ("Dad" and "Mom")...then out in the big field with their "Uncles" Rosebud and Shermy, two big Cheviot sheep who are also...er...pet sheep. Sometimes it's just fine for someone to have no other purpose in life but to live and be one of God's creatures. That's Doodle, Snowball, Rosebud, and Shermy. Welcome to their world!

Circus Lambs

Here we see me and Snowball showing how we can stand on our hind legs and reach stuff.
Mom says I am "Doodle, the Magnificent Circus Lamb of Amazement!" This is because I can stand on my hind legs without holding on to anything!

Snowball used to love to jump up on his hind legs. Especially on people. This was not always a good idea, especially as we got bigger.

He doesn't stand up tall so much anymore.
I still dance on my hind legs if there is a chance of a cookie. And I am more than happy to put my two front feet on you, if you like. I can reach your shoulders!

Uncle Bud and Uncle Shermy just don't understand.

A Happy Chap

Here we see Uncle Shermy
He's usually a pretty happy guy.
A happy chappy.
Shermy is easy going and friendly.
Unless he gets scared.
Then, he runs fast and is hard to catch!
Shermy also has buggy-out eyes, which get really big when he is scared.

So, everyone be nice to Uncle Shermy and send him lots of cookies, so he doesn't get scared. It's okay. I will help him eat them if I have to.

Snowball Scritches

Here we see Snowball.
He is "allowing" Dad to scritch him. Or so he says.

Snowball used to love scritches and would follow Mom or Dad around, waiting to get them.

Now, though... he doesn't like them as much.
Snowball is a very persnickety lamb.
He has big mood swings.

Sometimes he likes scritches; sometimes he doesn't.
Sometimes he wants lots of cookies; sometimes he doesn't even want one.

Sometimes Snowball is bouncy; sometimes he is all blue and droopy.
It's hard living with a moody lamb!

Snowball should be like me, Doodle:  a happy lamb all the time!

Snowball and the Paparazzi

Here we see Snowball, having a bite to eat.
And here he is telling the photographer:  No photos, please.

Sometimes a guy just wants to grab a bite to eat in peace!

Triangle Head Snowball

Here we see Snowball. He's getting ready for winter, too. Eating the best grass and bulking up.
We were thinking maybe as he grew up his pointy head was going away.
I think these photos show otherwise, don't you?
Still our pointy, triangle head Snowball!

Look how fluffy his face is getting!
He has his winter face on, too.

Snowball's wool grows in nice and full now, too.
Remember how his first year he had a V-neck sweater?

The Grass Really IS Greener...

Here we see me and Snowball eating green grass.
The grass really IS greener on the other side of the fence.
We have a nice field with a house, a hay rack, a mineral pail, water.
Mom and Dad give us cookies and kibbles.

We still like to come out and play.
And eat the OTHER grass that is outside our field.
It just tastes better.
It does!

You Know That Guy...

who is just kind of oblivious to stuff? Like he doesn't really realize how much space he is actually taking up? Or that he might be standing in someone's way?
Here we see Rosebud and Shermy enjoying their new hay rack. Well, Shermy's trying to, anyway!

Snowball Likes Dry Feet Too

Here we see Snowball. He is trying to keep his little feet dry, too.
He knows he is not allowed to use the Doodle Stone, so he is standing on a nice patch of not-muddy grass.

Winter can be a hard time for lambies.
We don't really like all this wet.
Snow would be better.
Dry and sunny would be even better.

Thank goodness Mom and Dad have given us a house for when it's really storming!

The Grown-Ups' Table

And here we see Uncle Shermy and Uncle Bud, enjoying their dinner.
It must be nice to have silver service.
Mom and Dad think we still need plastic bowls!

The Doodle Stone

Here we see me, standing on my Stone of Destiny:
This is where great Doodles are made!
And, it keeps my little feet out of the mud.

My special stone is perfect for me because I don't like getting my feet wet, and I don't like walking through mud. And...BONUS...I can reach the cookies from here!

Standing on the Doodle Stone gives me a different perspective, and time to think. I am a thinking Doodle.
I also have a very hard head and I am not afraid to use it for bashing purposes, so don't even think about stealing my Doodle Stone!

Shermy... and an Accomplice

Here we see Uncle Shermy. He's at it again. He is convinced if he bites through Mom's pocket, he will get all the cookies. The only thing that really happens is all OUR cookies get crushed. Bad Uncle Shermy!
And here we see Shermy trying to bring in an accomplice.

It'll never work.  Uncle Bud has NEVER bitten a pocket in his whole life! Look at that face! Does he look like a criminal to you?
Er...he does look a bit like the kid who has been into the candy jar. He's been eating from the mineral pail! Silly Bud!

Preparing for Winter Doodle

Here we see me, preparing for winter. I'm getting to be a big Doodle... a "large document sized Doodle" as it were. We need to keep our condition and bulk up so we can weather the cold, dark, wet days.
Chomp. Chomp. Chomp.
Of course, cookies are the best way to do this!

Doodle, Esq.

Here we see me, behaving like a gentleman. I politely ask Mom for cookies. I do NOT bite her pocket!
Here we see me getting both cookies AND scritches!

Take a page from the Doodle book: be a gentleman!

Shermy Demonstrates How It Works

Here we see Uncle Shermy demanding cookies from Mom's pocket.
Snowball is watching carefully.
Here he has requested our presence so we can see close up!
Snowball is taking notes.

As for me, Doodle, I don't think it's very gentlemanly.
I'm not gonna be a party to this.
Besides... Mom might decide to stop giving us cookies!

Here we see Shermy showing tenacity.
Snowball is still taking notes.
I'm outta there!

Tomorrow, I will show you the correct way for requesting cookies!
